S1: Ep2 | Valéry Vuillermoz: Leading on the pandemic frontline

with Valéry Vuillermoz: pharmaceutical Supply Chain expert and leader

Valéry Vuillermoz is a logistics expert with responsibility for the supply chain of pharmaceutical supplies to pharmacies for the eastern region of France. As a senior leader, he and his team worked tirelessly during the lockdown to procure and deliver medical supplies across a region that was particularly impacted by the virus. Already before the lockdown, procuring medication and medical supplies had been a challenge and with little warning, demand exploded.

With 20% of staff suddenly absent due to illness or other lockdown-related issues on most days, a management team homeworking, Valéry needed to ensure that 24 warehouses could receive and dispatch supplies at a level never seen before.

This required leadership and interpersonal skills at an extraordinary level. In this podcast, Valéry shares how he approached the crisis and what he learnt and how having a purpose at work remains his priority and guide for him and his team.

About Valéry:

Valéry has had a long career in logistics and has worked for 22 years at CERP, a pharmaceutical distribution company in France. He has always enjoyed leading teams whether in the Head Office in Belfort or in the warehouses in the eastern region of France. He is particularly interested in processes that allow automation and is currently working on a pilot project that will allow robots to assist in the warehouses. However, it is people management that interests him most and working directly with his teams is what inspires him.

Continuing his own professional development has always been a priority and in 2017 he completed a part-time Master's degree specialising in Supply Chain Management at the Kedge Business School.

He enjoys travelling when he can and likes to take advantage of opportunities to dive in warm seas.
